Awards for Yorkshire markets

Yorkshire took three major prizes in the Great British Market Awards 2018.

Indoor markets in Todmorden in the Calderdale district of West Yorkshire and Barnsley in South Yorkshire took Best Small Indoor Market and Best Large Indoor Market prizes respectively. Skipton in North Yorkshire won the Best Large Speciality Market prize with its Christmas Markets which are just part of a wide range of market activities in the town.

The awards organised by the National Association of British Market Authorities were presented on Thursday January 25 at a ceremony in Birmingham.

Picture: Todmorden indoor market, which is possibly a little more bustling between Wednesday and Saturday when there are also outdoor stalls, than an hour before closing time on a Monday.
